Gangsta Sh*t in New Jack City

So, I wasn’t going to say anything out of respect for the final services today (Friday May 28th, 2021) but I had the honor of penning the final eulogy for #ECW Pro-Wrestling legend New Jack. I’m humbled, honored, & appreciative of his wife Jen (now known to the squad as Jen Jack aka Jen & Juice) for trusting me w/ such a sacred task. To know they both respected my skill as a writer and that being the basis of his interaction w/ The Broken Pencil Booking Co. Podcast is something I’ll never forget. To those who watched professional wrestling on television and the internet, New Jack was an unapologetically real, fearlessly rebellious, and brutally honest human being. Those who knew the man Jerome Young, understand that New Jack was an extension of his true self. 


It’s no coincidence that a man who often didn’t care what chaos his words caused would proclaim that he wasn’t concerned with how he would be remembered, because the bottom line is he WILL be remembered. Everyone has their own personal “New Jack Memory” that sticks out for them wether or not they ever had the chance to meet him. Never a dull moment, never an uneventful interaction. Jerome Young LIVED LIFE on max volume. 


A father, husband, brother, son, friend, and as crazy as it may sound...a hero. Countless people would trade anything to approach life with Jerome’s level of passion, and confidence. He is the original blueprint to IDGAF.  Never one to compromise his truth, always a man of his own mind and reasoning, Jerome “New Jack” Young was a “Gangsta”. Not gangsta in the sense of a violent criminal, even though we know he could get busy when necessary; but gangsta in the sense that he wasn’t bound by society’s opinions and constraints. He had no fear of being disliked, and respect was non negotiable.


Legends never die, real g’s live forever, and somewhere in heaven Jerome is getting ready to dive off a cloud and put someone through a table...Believe that. Bombs Away!
