A few people hit me up about doing the #SoGoneChallenge but by that time I was pretty much over it & my #SkoundrelLife Brethren @DonClaideVanHam had already body bagged it for me. Prodigy of Mobb Deep has subsequently called for a #ShookOnesChallenge over the East Coast classic instrumental, thing is...I did that 5 years ago!
Don't believe me just watch...

Today on #MayorMediaMondays we get a couple of cool concept style interviews via complex & some dope new music from @Slimthugga. They were dope to me so I think you'll enjoy...
Sneaker shopping w/ Shane O' Mac
The Titan of #TuesdayNightSneakerWatch Shane McMahon stops by flight club to talk kicks and score a few additions to his collection.
Joe Budden on "Hot Ones"
Another concept style interview piece from complex, this time featuring Joe Budden fielding questions on various topics while sampling wings w/ increasingly hotter sauces. My first time watching the series and asides from the "left-field" premise it's a pretty interesting and entertaining video. Budden shows a lot of personality while coming off relaxed and natural which is a cool abnormality in today's hip-hop media game.
New music from Slim Thug
Hogg Life Vol.4 "American King" the new release from Houston Underground Legend Slim Thug has what may be one of the year's best songs as its lead single. Check Out "Peaceful".

Today starts w/ an unfortunately all too familiar narrative in the sports world...an athlete caught on the wrong end of a story involving domestic violence.
This time it's Dallas Cowboy's Rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott...Elliott has come forward and proclaimed his innocence. Elliott's Father has issued a public statement.
The new Air Jordan made its much anticipated debut online via official press and photos this evening. The reviews so far have been mixed to say the least. Check out the pics and leave your opinions in the comments...you stay classy Internet! #PoliticalStatus
I'm always trying to come up w/ new ideas for the page, ways to connect w/ the constituents of the campaign...So since I spend a large % of my time playing, creating, & critiquing music I figured this new concept should work pretty well.
The #MayorMuzik hashtag is branching out to include custom playlists created by yours truly. Each playlist will be themed w/o much restriction other than whatever rules I create for each list & what's available via Apple Music (which makes it possible for everyone to jam exactly what the list contains w/o "crate digging".)
This game day playlist that doubles as a workout soundtrack contains classics, multiple genres, new music & is what I like to call a work in progress list...meaning I'll be consistently adding music to it. The goal was 50 songs b4 posting but why wait?! The only rules I stuck to were 1) No artist appears more than 3 times on the list unless there's an approved feature. 2) It puts me in a headspace to compete at a high level. Got suggestions on songs to add to this list?! Leave them on the comments (songs must be published & available via Apple Music etc). #PoliticalStatus

So...WWE is reexamineing the idea of a brand extension & in doing so has decided to split the current active roster into two separate entities. It's a cool concept that allows for movement within the sports entertainment hiarache. To help generate buzz WWE has created a mock draft experience for users to draft their own versions of Raw & Smackdown rosters. Of course, I took a shot at it....

Its official, this is the start of the "Netflix and Chill" generation. While that usually means one specific activity in internet and urban culture terms, in the grand scheme of things it also means the preferred methods of tv entertainment have vastly changed from "Dinner & a Movie" days.
More and more people have grown tired of the lack of selection provided by cable and satellite providers or quite frankly are too busy in their "pursuit of happiness" to wait around for their favorite show's original air time-slot. This is an on-demand society that craves on-demsnd content.
Me and my brain trust of learn-ed doctors have been looking to crack the code of what it would take for us to jump completely off the grid of cable and satellite providers in favor of a stream heavy content diet. I think Ive finally been successful at finding our exit from the matrix, which entails sports content, binge watching lengthy series, indulging new show content, while still keeping in touch with the part of the world we care to involve our mind in. If you read this list and find places of improvement please feel free to contribute.
I've had my moments of questioning the usefulness of Netflx in the past but for some reason I've never pulled the trigger on canceling the subscription. For less than $10 bucks I've got pretty decent HD content and now the original content (House of Cards, Daredevil, Narcos, etc) has made it imperative that I keep it around. Price: $8.65 Monthly Subscription.
Perfect for those who aren't handcuffed by television schedules and enjoy watching content at their own pace. The base version of Hulu allows users to watch new episodes of network tv shows a day after network air. Hulu also included select movies and original content ala Netflix while only delivering 3 min of add for every 10 min or so of programing, a welcomed change of pace from regular television especially while streaming HD content. Price: $7.99 Monthly Subscription
3. Sling TV
This is the newest addition to my stream-life library but nonetheless it has an important place. Channels like ESPN, ESPN 2, and TNT are paramount for my sports/highlights fix and Sling TV gives me access to them all. Sling also has add on options for extra spots, kids, news, and premium movie channel content. This is the part of streaming that can get tough, the urge to watch live television (even if it is just syndicated shows). Sling makes it somewhat easier to ditch the cable provider. Its all the conveience w/ none of the hassle. No contract, No installation, No waiting on a repair tech to show up. Price: $20 Monthly Subscription (add-ons range from $5-$15 each package).
4. WWE Network
This is more of a niche addition, I'm an avid pro wrestling watcher and I can literally spend an entire day just streaming content from this one source. There are still a few things I'd like to see added but it's merely from a content junkie standpoint as good of an on demand service as there is in streaming. Price: $9.99 Monthly Subscription
if you're going to be out here in these Internet streaming streets and plan to be prosperous it all starts here...if you're a content savage this could be a stand alone app situation for you. If your firestick, roku, etc doesn't have this installed...you're losing. Price: Free 99 + a little effort or a tech plug.
So..The Academy Awards (the same awards I haven't watch since Three 6 Mafia won for their contributions to Hustle & Flow...and wasn't invested in before hand) came on Sunday night and the world (most of it anyway) tuned in looking for a train wreck or some sort of militant display. What they got was...Chris Rock. The Classic version of Chris too, the satirical sniper of all things ironic and uncomfortable. I understand Rock's brand of comedic genius isn't everyone's preference, but It feels from the pulse of my timelines a lot of individuals were looking for something totally different than what they received.
Let's take a look at the opening monologue...
Some of my friends and people I share common understanding with felt this was a let down, a disappointing display, some even went as far as to call it a minstrel show. I saw it totally different. I heard a room full of uncomfortable souls doing their best to "laugh-track" through a scathing, yet comical depiction of being Black in Hollywood. Every-time the audience thought Chris was going to lighten their burden and make an apologetic point on their oblivious behalf to relieve the tension of decades of racial, and gender discrimination transgressions... another truth loaded over-hand right cross struck them back into an uneasy, defensive state. (The BEST example of this is at the 1 min 30 second mark. 3 min 58 sec isn't too bad either.)
The Stacy Dash Joke...
This was REALLY slick, to the point that I don't even think Stacey knows she was the premise as well as the punchline of the joke. Saving a long explanation... She's Clueless now IN REAL LIFE & only Black in skin color so a group of out of touch, delusional critics would ONLY appoint someone as out of touch and delusional as them to "oversee" an "outreach program",
Then this happened...
IMO I'm cool w/ the strategic chipping away at the lack of diversity through comedic anecdotes, none more appropriate than Angela Bassett's "Black History Month Minute". The title itself is a clever play, this is chess not checkers. The next move is what matters.
Everything is perspective and perception, your opinion matters and if you feel differently we can compare notes. If we're in the same position pandering for recognition next year then this was a complete failure. If it was the public "Dear John Letter" before the next chapter in Black Entertainment it's a clear win.
